Welcome to the Curious Farmhouse, a light-filled retreat on 43 acres of meadows, trails, and mountain views. There’s a big outdoor patio with a dining/grilling area, firepit, and lounge for you to really take in the views and enjoy that time surrounded by nature. Two king bedrooms, a bunk room, two baths, a large patio, local art, and even a roll-away TV (for screen nights or screen-free ones). The home is cozy, and tucked on the edge of the Catskills and Hudson Valley.
Ideal for two couples, a family, or a few friends in town for a wedding (or working one), the Curious Farmhouse has a generous layout but a cozy, grounded feel. Think: cloud-soft sofas, local art and vintage finds, curated touches, and wide windows that glow in the morning and sparkle at night under a sky full of stars.
Light-Filled Interiors + Modern Comfort
The home balances old charm with thoughtful renovations. The living room is soft and inviting, the dining room fits six for dinner or games, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need from all the utensils and kitchen pots/pans/bowls/etc, an electric cooktop and oven to a coffee maker (and our special 2Queens coffee blend!), microwave, and dishwasher.
Two bedrooms have king beds and ensuite access; the third is cozier, with a twin bunk bed and a desk. Two full bathrooms are upstairs (one with laundry), plus there’s a half bath downstairs with wallpaper designed by a local artist and featuring regional landarks.
The east-facing patio catches dreamy morning light that’s perfect for coffee, yoga, or checking out which flowers you’d want to cut from the meadow for a bouquet. There’s a grill, fire pit, outdoor seating that’s almost as comfy as inside, and a big dining table for warm evening meals. The view stretches over the meadow and pond all the way to the Gunks.
There’s also a flat grassy lawn between the barns (shared with our nearby cottage) that’s perfect for lawn games, picnics, or just lying in the grass.
This was once a working dairy farm and you’ll find trails mowed through the fields, a path down to the pond, a small orchard with Asian pears in the fall, and even a bald eagle nest in a tree right next to the house.
The property sits far back from the road, with the Rondout Creek borrdering one edge, and shares the 43-acre property with Wildflower Cottage, just down the road and available to book separately or together.
You’re just minutes from some of the favorites in the region: INNESS, Westwind Orchard, Arrowood Farms, Ravenwood, Mill & Main, Flying Goose, Accord Market, Bluebird Wine, Saunderskill Farm, Kelder’s Farm, SkateTime Roller Rink, and the trail systems at Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve.
We love to welcome well-behaved dogs, and ask for a $50 fee per pet per stay to help with additional cleaning and wear. While the yard isn’t fully fenced, it’s open and inviting, just keep pups leashed near the road. We vacuum and wipe all surfaces between guests to ensure the space is fresh and clean.
Other Details to Note
Curious Guesthouses offers additional listings in Ulster and Sullivan counties (if you’re seeing this on Airbnb, you can find them by clicking on our profile)
You might see guests staying at Wildflower Cottage (also on the property), but the homes are spaced for privacy and quiet…most people don’t know they’re part of the same property!
Lawn between the barns is shared and open for play, picnics, or quiet stargazing
